Aussie soap Neighbours looks set to eclipse Eastenders’ big birthday, when it marks its own anniversary in style next month – with five bonus episodes, five weddings, and three tragic deaths!

Fans have been promised a week full of tears, laughter and nostalgia when the birthday festivities kick off on 16 March. As well as the regular daytime shows, viewers will also be treated to daily 10pm episodes, which will follow a dramatic standalone story set at Elly’s 35th birthday party.

The late-night action takes place at a glamping resort on Pierce’s private island, where Finn will again unleash his evil side as his deadly revenge plan takes shape! So which of the party guests won’t make it off the island alive? Meanwhile, back in Erinsborough, the Lassiters wedding expo kicks off – with a different couple tying the knot every day! The unique nuptials will reunite favourite couples from different eras of Neighbours who didn’t get to say “I do” the first time around – making it a week fans won’t want to miss… “We have a reputation for going big with our milestones – and this is our biggest yet!” explains Neighbours’ executive producer, Jason Herbison. “There’s warmth and nostalgia, as well as high drama. Neighbours is 35 years young, and we are celebrating with a bang!”

A raft of returnees has been announced for the celebrations, which have already started with the arrivals of Jane Harris and Mark Brennan on screen. More familiar faces are to follow in the coming weeks, including Sky Mangel – and the regular cast is excited to be part of the event, too.

“I said it would last six months – well, who is eating their words now!” laughs Stefan Dennis (Paul), who was in the soap’s first episode. “I’m incredibly proud to be a part of this milestone…”
