The BIG DEBATE!
A CORRIE MILESTONE
Coronation Street has been going since 1960, and decided to take us down memory lane for its special 10,000th episode – and you all seemed to have very mixed views on the matter…
When I heard that Ken and Claudia are leaving their house on the cobbles for a retirement home, I had a brilliant idea – a Corrie murder-mystery spin-off!
Ken would be the intellectual sleuth with Claudia as his beautiful sidekick!

I was more than prepared for an over-the-top 10,000th episode, but it was fabulous!
A real mixture of sad memories together with lots of smiles. It was made easy to remember the original residents, but it was so sad to hear of Ken’s departure.

However, some of you didn’t seem to enjoy the milestone episode quite as much…
What an anti-climax the 10,000th episode of Coronation
Street turned out to be! The coach load of characters never even got to Blackpool! We did at least settle a few differences among the ladies concerned, which showed some togetherness – and poor Dennis Tanner’s ashes were disposed of in an original way!
| Neil, Blackpool
As a Coronation Street viewer since the beginning, I was very much looking forward to the big episode. But I just felt as if the whole thing was forced. However, Ken’s leaving did leave me reminiscing over the changing of the Street throughout the years.

Don’t worry Janette,
Ken hasn’t left Coronation Street altogether!
