Nina Lucas CORONATION STREET

-

“I’ve watched Corrie since I was a kid!”

Roy has always possessed a powerful instinct when it comes to the younger generation. However, after he and his young niece Nina initially crossed paths, it seemed that even Roy might struggle to work his magic this time.

Unfortunately, it took the death of Nina’s father and Roy’s brother, Richard – and Nina losing her home – to thaw the teenager’s frosty relationship with Roy. But now she’s living under the same roof as Uncle Roy, Nina’s new life is a welcome change for the both of them…

“While Nina’s been reluctant to let Roy into her life, she’s realised they have more in common than she first thought,” shares Mollie Gallagher, who first played Corrie’s Nina last November. “And now she’s on her own, hopefully they can work at it…”

Dream job

Having recently graduated from drama school, Corrie is 21-year-old Mollie’s first professional acting job – which she admits made for a very nervewracking first day on set!

“As a kid I was always watching Corrie, so I’ve been mega star-struck – which made it even more intense,” she’s revealed. “But I’m delighted to be in Corrie, and working with incredible actors such as David Nielson [Roy] and Alison King [Carla]. Everyone loves Roy Cropper, so it’s a massive deal!”

Roy of light

As Nina settles in with Roy, it won’t be long before she’s feeling right at home in Weatherfield – where’s she set to have a positive influence on her local community.

“Nina possesses a social conscience, and she’s keen to make a difference,” shares our Coronation Street insider. “The local council had better beware! We’re also going to see Nina reaching out to fellow teen Asha, who’s much in need of a friend to confide in.

“And Nina’s arrival brings a new lease of life for Roy, too. They’re from different generations, but there’s an important connection between them…”
