Jean is thrilled to get the all-clear
FINALLY SOME GOOD NEWS FOR A CHANGE…
Brave Jean gets the news she’s been longing for this week – as her MRI scan comes back all clear. During her gruelling battle with ovarian cancer, Jean’s prayed that she can beat the disease and have a future with her family. Having had the scan to determine the success of her treatment, Jean’s on tenterhooks as she arrives to collect her results. However, her fears are quickly allayed when her consultant gives her a clean bill of health.
“Jean is overwhelmed with emotion – it’s such a fantastic moment for her,” says our Square insider. “At times she has felt as if this moment would never come, so to hear the phrase ‘all-clear’ is amazing. It’s just bittersweet for her that she has a future to look forward to, while time is running out for Daniel, the man she loves.”
Now he’s in the final stages of his cancer, Daniel is even more blasé than usual about his condition. Although Jean’s happy to participate in a bit of gallows humour, she needs Daniel to take some things seriously, and she begins to get frustrated with him.
When Jean discovers that Daniel’s hospice is closing, she insists that he stays with her so she can be by his side until the end. In turn, Daniel is concerned for Jean as her oncology appointment looms, and promises her that he won’t die until he knows that she has good news about her health. So, when she returns from the appointment, Jean decides to lie to Daniel – because she doesn’t want him to give up the fight just yet.
“The time she and Daniel have spent together as a couple has been some of the most precious of Jean’s entire life,”

He’s overjoyed to know that the woman he loves now has the chance to live a happy life, and yet says nothing as they head into the Square to sit and take in the view. Will Daniel tell Jean that he knows she is keeping the truth from him?
