Hairy Biker Dave Myers lets us into his top TV picks…
I really loved
Benidorm, but unfortunately that’s finished now. I think it’s one of the funniest things that’s been on telly for years – it’s vulgar, it’s brash and the characters are so funny. There was a chance for me to do a cameo part as an auctioneer when the Solana was auctioned, but I couldn’t do it because I was away filming!
The last show I basically binge-watched was New
Amsterdam. I watched series one, but only half of series two is available [on Amazon Prime]! I’ve been watching Catherine
The Great on Sky, too. When I was a make-up artist, I made Helen Mirren up for an episode of Prime Suspect. I find that funny, that I spent a couple of months with her and now
I’m watching her in this, completely engrossed.
My wind-down viewing is anything with Rick
Stein. I live in France a lot of the time, and when Si and I heard that Rick Stein was doing France we said, “Oh, no!” – because that means we won’t be able to do a programme in France for another 10 years! But me and my wife do love watching him. And I’ve enjoyed The Greek Islands With Julia Bradbury,
too – I caught the Corfu one and we were straight online afterwards trying to book ourselves a trip there!
If I could be in any other telly programme, I’d love to be an expert on Antiques Roadshow.
I once had an antiques business in Aberdeenshire many years ago, and I still love them, so stick me on that for a laugh. I’d love to break someone’s heart and tell them that what they’ve
got is a load of rubbish!
