“There’s lots of romance on the cards for George!” PC George Kiss HOLLYOAKS

From the moment PC George Kiss arrived at the scene of Nancy Osborne’s stabbing, and assured the teacher that “everything’s going to be okay”, we knew the locals of Hollyoaks village were in safe hands. “George is a good cop – he’s passionate about his work,” confirms Callum Kerr, who plays Hollyoaks’ newest hunk. “He enjoys chasing down the bad guys, although he doesn’t always follow the rules. He’s a bit of a mischief-maker, but he has the right intentions.”

Dream job

“Playing a police officer is perfect for me, as I always wanted to be a cop when I was younger,” explains the Scottish-born star. “My grandfather was a police officer, so I always thought it was very cool.”

Having appeared in shows such as ITV2 sitcom Zomboat! and the TV adaptation of Four Weddings And A Funeral, Callum feels at home on the set of a television drama. But he tells us that landing this role in Hollyoaks is his most exciting job to date…

“It’s a dream for an actor to be working full-time,” admits Callum. “There are a lot of similarities between me and George – we both like driving fast cars!”

Schoolyard

The village will need a decent police officer in the coming months, after the arrival of drug dealer Jordan. He’s planning on roping in the students of Hollyoaks High to sell his merchandise to the locals – but with PC Kiss on the case, he might not stand a chance…

“George will be very involved in the drugs storyline,” confirms Callum. “He is the school’s new liaison officer, and he’s trying to help these kids not make bad decisions – he knows how easy it is to get drawn into the drug world.

“He also knows that the kids are not the criminal minds behind it all,” he adds. “But he’ll need a good relationship with the pupils to find out who the real bad guys are.”

Sex crime!

However, Callum says it won’t just be George’s professional life keeping viewers enthralled in the coming months.

“There’s romance on the cards – a lot of it!” he teases. “I don’t know if my character will be straight, gay, or a bit of both, but I’ve heard there could be a nice relationship.”

The response to PC Kiss’ arrival in the village has been overwhelmingly positive so far – and Callum hopes viewers will see a lot more of his character in the coming months.

“The more trouble there is in Hollyoaks, the more I’ll be involved in the storylines!” he grins. “I’m looking forward to George having as much drama as possible!”
