Linda squares up to Shelley

Linda is determined to win back control of her life this week, as she stands up to her nemesis, Shelley!
Since surviving the Thames boat disaster, Linda has finally woken up to the fact that she has a big drinking problem, and has promised husband Mick that she will go dry from here on in. And this time, she really seems to mean it! She’s been regularly attending her support-group meetings, and Mick is pleased with the progress she’s been making. But is there trouble ahead?
“Shirley and Tina are still dubious about whether Linda really has turned a corner,” frowns our Walford insider. “And they’re alarmed when they find out that she’s gone to collect Ollie from school. After Linda’s previous antics put the lad in danger, Shirley and Tina fear a repeat performance…”
Fortunately, though, Linda seems to be sticking to her promises. When she turns up at the school, she comes face to face with her old rival, Shelley. Remembering their earlier clashes, Linda takes a deep breath and apologises to Shelley, asking if there’s a chance they can start over.
“You’ll recall how Linda drove into Shelley’s parked car while she was hungover,” our spy reminds us. “And she made things far worse by driving straight off! Shelley clearly hasn’t forgotten about it either – and she’s in no mood to kiss and make up!”
Fortunately, Isaac is on hand to step in before the tense situation turns too nasty, and he quickly defuses the aggro by asking Linda to help him out at the school. However, there’s no escaping round two a little later on, when Shelley turns up at the Vic…
“Shelley tells Isaac all about Linda’s drink issue,” says our sneak. “Linda sees exactly what’s going on, though, and launches at Shelley with some pretty harsh words of her own!”
As Shelley licks her wounds, Isaac commends
Linda for standing up for herself, while Mick is proud of his wife’s reaction. But is fragile Linda really back on the straight and narrow – or will this encounter send her scurrying right back to the bottle?
