Vanessa prepares for the worst

Cancer patient Vanessa begins the first phase of her treatment this week, as surgeons remove the tumour from her bowel.
Scans have shown that the cancer has spread to her nearby lymph nodes, so the op is focussed on removing every bit of the tumour possible.
With Charity, Tracy and Rhona supporting her, Vanessa tries to brace herself for the surgery, and even insists on working up until the day before. But as the pain becomes too much, even the brave vet knows it’s time to scale back. However, while she seems to be fighting the disease with all she has, Vanessa confesses that she is secretly preparing for the worst.

Vanessa has attempted to stay active since her diagnosis, and she’s trying to live her life to the full, which is one of the reasons Tracy is so stunned by Vanessa’s confession. But Vanessa tells Tracy that she’s just putting her own mind at rest, by getting her affairs in order and ensuring the people she loves will be taken care of.
However, as Vanessa is taken into theatre, her shock confession makes her diagnosis seem more real than ever for Tracy. Will she reveal Vanessa’s true fears to anyone else?
