Diane & Edward are exposed
BUT WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR HER MARRIAGE?
Diane’s secret is out this week – when Tony learns that she had an affair with his father, Edward! The drama kicks off after Edward, jealous of Tony’s reconciliation with his former lover, tells Diane that he’s going to expose the truth in the most public manner…
“It’s all done in typical soapie fashion!” laughs Alex Fletcher, who plays Diane. “Edward tells Diane that he’s going to make this huge announcement at a presentation he’s giving in the café, and says he’s going to tell everyone what they did. He’s showing his true colours now…”
Of course, the revelation will floor Tony, who thought Diane had been seeing someone from an online dating site.
“Diane’s not coping with the lies,” says Alex. “The pressure had eased a bit, because she admitted to having an affair with ‘Barnaby’ and managed to get away with that – I don’t know how, though, as Diane really isn’t a very good liar!”
However, if everything is out in the open, can Diane fight her feelings – after all, she did fall in love with Edward?
“He tells Diane he wants her back, but she says she’s not interested,” reveals Alex. “She tells him she loves Tony. But I think there will always be a spark there between her and Edward – Diane’s fond of him.”
Although she vows to pursue her marriage to Tony, Edward may have ruined her chances with her husband for good, and it doesn’t look as if he’ll give up any time soon…

over it. Plus, Edward’s so manipulative and doesn’t want to see Diane happy with Tony, so I’m sure he will worm his way back in – he’s going nowhere!”
Despite Diane’s distress, Alex says the story proves what great friends her alter ego has around her.
“Leela’s been amazing – she’s Diane’s confidante,” shares Alex. “And Misbah’s been cool. She knows what has happened. People are cutting Diane some slack.”
Despite her character being put in an awkward position, Alex has been loving the racy goings-on.
“This love triangle has been great,” she grins. “And it’s been well cast. Joe Mcgann [Edward] is just fabulous – and I’ve enjoyed Diane being a bit naughty as well!”
