Mick & Linda make shock plans

WILL EVERYONE BE ONBOARD WITH THEIR FUTURE PLANS?

- Sarah Ellis

Recovering alcoholic Linda falls off the wagon again this week – leading her and Mick to make a huge decision about their future…

Although Linda has finally admitted that she’s addicted to booze and has vowed to get help, it’s clearly not going to be an easy path to getting sober. So when she has a slip-up this week, she and Mick realise that things need to change!

“It’s no wonder Linda is finding it hard to resist the booze – she’s surrounded by it all day long in the pub!” quips our Eastenders insider. “She tells Mick she’s finally feeling strong enough to return to work after going cold turkey for the past few weeks. Yet when she stumbles upon

Shirley’s secret stash of vodka, Linda can’t help herself!”

Linda’s relapse comes just as she’s sworn to get herself back on the straight and narrow for the sake of her son, Ollie. A visit with the social worker goes well, and Linda is even feeling strong enough to be there for her best mate Sharon as she gets ready for son Dennis’ funeral (see p4).

However, it’s when grieving Sharon shares some harsh words with her that Linda gets upset, and pours herself a vodka. Sadly for Linda, she’s caught red-handed by her mother-in-law – and when Mick then arrives on the scene, Linda has to admit that she’s relapsed.

Mick is understanding of his wife’s struggle, leading to the pair sharing a heart-toheart while they read

Ollie a bedtime story. The Carters seem stronger than ever as Mick vows to do whatever it takes to help his missus overcome her addiction, prompting them to make a decision about their future.

“It’s heart-warming to see Mick and Linda united and

“Linda clearly can’t cope with being around booze all day”

working together as a team again,” grins our mole. “Linda clearly can’t cope with being around booze every day, and announces to her hubby that she wants to step back from working in the bar. And Mick reassures her he’ll support her in whatever decision she makes.”

However, a run-in with Billy while he’s drunk puts things into perspective for both Mick and Linda, as they realise they need to take more drastic action if Linda’s ever going to kick her habit. We’ve already seen Mick question if the Vic is the right place for Linda to be – so could moving out be part of what the Carters are planning? And will the rest of the clan be onboard with their decision?
