Phil turns up at Dennis’ wake

THERE’S CHAOS AS HE GATECRASHES THE WAKE…

- Tom Spilsbury

Sharon must face something that no mother should ever endure this week, as she braces herself to bury her son.

Her teenage boy Dennis died just over a month ago, after drowning in the tragic boat disaster on the River Thames. And while Sharon blames herself for Dennis being on the doomed boat in the first place, she’s since found out that the reason for the crash was due to Phil and Ben’s brawl with her ex-lover, Keanu.

“Sharon is well aware of her own guilt, but she’s certainly not forgiven Phil and Ben for Dennis’ death either,” claims our

Eastenders insider. “It’s typical of reckless Phil to behave like a lunatic, woe betide the consequences. Well, this time there

are consequences, and Sharon isn’t about to let any of the Mitchells forget it.”

She’s so resolute in her anger that when Jay arrives with flowers from Ben and

Lola, Sharon refuses them, telling the undertaker that no Mitchells are welcome to attend the funeral service. However, when she heads off to the church with her best friend Ian, Sharon’s unaware that someone is watching their every move…

Later, at the service, finding the occasion too much to bear, Sharon breaks down. But things gets worse back at the Vic, where Linda and Mick are hosting the wake.

“Ben dares to show his face,” reveals our spy. “Although he respected Sharon’s wishes by staying away from the funeral itself, he’s determined to pay his respects at the wake, as he regarded Denny as his little brother. However, the unwelcome intrusion causes Sharon to lash out – not just at Ben, but also at Linda, and anyone else who gets in her way!”

As Ian escorts her out of the Vic, and tries to calm her down,

Sharon isn’t ready for who she sees outside – it’s Phil!

“As you might imagine, seeing Phil standing there as bold as brass tips Sharon over the edge,” gasps our sneak. “Everyone has their breaking point, and Sharon just went way past hers. She launches a shocking attack on Phil, determined to rip off his stupid bald head! But she’s no match for him physically, and thankfully Ian and Kathy manage to drag her away.”

Phil isn’t to be deterred, though, and follows them home, where they try to barricade themselves in. Kathy and Ian’s feeble attempts to keep the peace prove fruitless, however, as out-of-control Sharon hurls insults at Phil while he kicks the door down. Fearing for his afety, Ian decides to call

e police – although by the time the officers arrive, Phil is nowhere to be found.

“Phil might be livid, but he’s not daft

enough to hang around until the rozzers turn up,” shares our mole. “Instead, he heads home, and pours himself a stiff drink. Given Phil’s battle with the booze, it takes a lot for him to seriously contemplate going back to the bottle, but it seems as though he’s lost all self-discipline.

Fortunately, Jay intervenes, just as the police come calling, forcing Phil into hiding!”

Phil is able to give the police the slip, and later on, Sharon – now considerably calmer – finally catches up with him at the Arches. After the pair exchange words, Phil comes to a realisation about what he has to do next. And when Ian runs into Phil in the Square, he’s left flabbergasted by what Phil tells him.

So, what is the Walford hard man planning? And is there any hope that Phil and Sharon might work through their problems and come out stronger than before?
