Geoff does a disappearing act
AS YASMEEN FINALLY LEAVES HIM, HAS HE CARRIED OUT HIS DEADLIEST THREAT YET?
There’s further torment for Yasmeen this week, when Geoff goes missing after threatening to kill himself!
Having found the strength to leave her abusive spouse, Yasmeen then receives a message from him, suggesting that he’s ready to take his own life. Worried for Geoff’s safety, Yasmeen can’t help but rush back home. And as she finds her table covered in smashed glass and blood splatters, she naturally fears the worst…
“This is typically dramatic measures on Geoff’s part,” wails our Weatherfield sneak. “At long last Yasmeen has packed up and left him, and no doubt Geoff can barely believe she’s had the audacity to actually do it! But just as Yasmeen arrives at Alya’s, and admits that her granddaughter was right about Geoff all along, her phone pings with his suicide threat – causing panic!”
The scene awaiting Yasmeen as she returns to No 6 is a grisly one. With Geoff nowhere to be seen, she walks in to find her living room in disarray. A broken photo frame lies on the table, alongside drops of blood – and without clue as to where to her horrific husband is, Yasmeen believes she has no choice but to cancel her plans to fly out to attend her grandson Zeedan’s wedding.
“Alya’s fuming as Yasmeen breaks the news that she can no longer travel to Spain for Zeedan’s big day,” reveals our insider. “She was so relieved that Yasmeen had at last seen the light concerning Geoff’s behaviour, and attending the wedding together should have marked a fresh start for
the family. But until Yasmeen knows Geoff’s whereabouts, she just doesn’t feel that she can leave the cobbles.”
It’s at this point that Yasmeen also calls the police, asking them how to find out more about Geoff’s shady past using Clare’s Law – an official scheme which will allow her to request information about her partner and whether he might pose a risk to her safety. The irony is that, meanwhile, she feels obliged to track down Geoff, terrified that he might have followed through on his threat of suicide…
“Although it might be plain as day for anyone on the outside of the situation to see that Geoff has orchestrated events for his own gain, Yasmeen just cannot cope with the idea that she might have prompted him to kill himself,” explains our source. “Having emotionally blackmailed his wife all this time, Geoff is probably quietly confident that Yasmeen couldn’t possibly abandon him if she believes that he’s vulnerable enough to take his own life. But his previous cowardly treatment of her may also suggest that he wouldn’t dare actually follow through with his deadly threat…”
Having manipulated Yasmeen, once again, into doing exactly what he wants, what other nasty tricks does Geoff have up his sleeve?
