James is attacked in the Street!

HE’S ENRAGED AFTER BEING TARGETED BY A BIGOTED FOOTBALL SUPPORTER…

- Alice Penwill

James reaches the end of his tether this week, when one of his club’s own fans launches a homophobic attack on him – but it’s not the only abuse James and his family receive this week…

Despite coming out to his mum and dad, James has been keeping his sexuality under wraps from the wider public. James has denied he’s gay several times to a journalist, as well as his football club’s manager. But despite this, some supporters have got wind of it and left comments online. So, as Tim chats to James about his last match, the lad is left horrified as another fan approaches them and makes it clear how he feels…

“James is appalled by what happens,” exclaims our Weatherfield sneak. “James knew that his sexuality wasn’t going to be accepted by everyone, hence why he tried to hide it. But to be abused in the street is definitely not what he expected, and that’s why James lashes out – Tim has to hold back the youngster in order to avoid more trouble.”

James’ ordeal comes just as his brother Michael and his dad Ed are also subjected to snide comments while working at the Bistro – this time about the colour of their skin.

“Ray tells Ed that the new Bistro manager, Don, isn’t happy with his work,” says

our insider. “But when they set about sorting out the problem, Don makes his remark, leaving both Ed and Michael shocked. However, when Ed just lets the comment go, concluding it’s not worth the trouble, Michael can’t get over the fact his father chose not to act.”

As Michael quietly seethes, on the other side of the Street, James has to be calmed down – and is left with a big decision over whether to report the crime. He doesn’t want to draw more attention to his sexuality, but for how much longer can he keep it secret?

“Tim has to hold James back to avoid more trouble”

“James will have to choose whether he wants to come clean,” shares our spy. “Or might he conclude that he has to give up on all his dreams?”
