Inside Soap

...faces questions!

-

Jasmine is one of the sweetest characters in the whole of soapland! However, will star Sam be just so amiable when faced with our tricky reader questions?

“Who or what inspired you to get into the world of acting?”

I hadn’t really entertained the idea until I was asked to audition for this role [Sam became famous after winning reality TV show The Bachelor]. But my sister Kristine was extremely excited for me – so I would say she was my inspiration. She was like, “You were born to do this, you’ve been performing since you were such a

young age, I really believe in you”. When I doubt myself, she keeps me going.

“Which co-star makes you laugh the most?”

Tim Franklin [Colby], by a mile! He’s one of the funniest people in the entire world! We once had this really serious scene where I had to yell at Tim, but we both were in a very giggly mood. We just couldn’t do the scene without laughing! So we had to film our lines separately, with the other leaving the room – we were acting to the empty set!

“What’s been the strangest fan experience you’ve ever had?”

There is a lady in the supermarket who always tries to get spoilers out of me. She’ll always be like, “Come here, now tell me what’s going on with this character”, and sometimes I will tell her little bits about what’s happening in the week. So she’s my favourite fan experience. I don’t think she knows my name’s Sam, though – she always calls me Jasmine!

“What was your experience on like?”

The Bachelor

I was very naive back then – I see the world a lot differently now. I was 24, and I’ve just turned 31, so it was a long time ago. I thought they had searched the whole country for the most perfect man, and that I was so lucky to get the chance to date him! Also, there weren’t so many reality TV shows back then, and it’s a different world now. I have more experience with life and TV these days – I know all the tricks they pull! But I do think reality TV is a lot of fun.

“If you could bring back any Home and Away character from the past, who would it be?”

I loved Sally Fletcher, and I also loved Pippa, who Debra Lawrance played.
