TRACY AND NICK OUT IN THE COLD!

Oliver’s illness sees Steve and Leanne grow closer…

-

Former lovers Steve and Leanne will feel drawn to each other in the coming months, as they pull together for their poorly son, Oliver. The pair face every mother and father’s worst nightmare after learning that the young lad has mitochondrial disease – a life-limiting illness for which there is no cure. However, as his parents naturally unite in the wake of devastating news, how far will they go to take comfort in each other – and will they push away their partners, Tracy and Nick, in the process? “The story really becomes about Steve and Leanne’s difficult journey to accepting their son’s condition, and also the impact it has on their relationships with other loved ones,” explains Weatherfield boss Iain Macleod. “This story will draw them closer together, to the point where they are bonded more tightly than ever, and we’ll see how Tracy and Nick feel shut out from that little triangle. “However, it makes you the worst person in the world if you express that, so the challenge for Tracy and Nick is finding the best way to support the people they love, while simultaneously feeling left out in the cold,” he continues. “It’s a really emotional, complicated family story that, in the end, will leave everyone permanently changed by it.” That tallies with what star Ben Price – who plays Nick – told us recently, in that the story would concentrate more on the adults involved. This focus is in part a result of young twins Emmanuel and Jeremiah Cheetham, who take turns playing Oliver, being unable to fulfil their roles currently due to health and safety protocols on set. So could Steve and Leanne be set to fall for one another, in the most harrowing of circumstances?
