Nate and Tracy are stunned this week, when a sudden trip to the hospital reveals that they’re expecting a baby together! After an accident at the farm, Nate drives injured Tracy to A&E. And while her injuries are minor, some routine tests result in a diagnosis that is pretty major – she’s pregnant. Unsurprisingly, the revelation leaves the couple reeling… “Nate’s completely terrified,” laughs Jurell Carter, who plays the new dad-to-be. “Tracy’s on the pill – they’re being safe – so it does come as a massive shock. And, of course, Nate’s difficult situation with his own family makes him even more terrified at this point.” Nate and Tracy have only been dating for a few months, yet despite their relationship being short, it has been sweet. So could they be ready for the responsibility of parenthood? “Nate and Tracy make a great couple,” shares Jurell. “Both of the characters are strong and fierce, but at the same time they’re very loving,
and it works well. Before the pregnancy, they were in a good place and taking things steady. The two of them were in the honeymoon phase, where everything’s just rosy and going well. They didn’t have any future plans before this.” Despite his relationship with Tracy being built on strong foundations, Nate is still struggling to fit into the Dingle family fold, and starts to doubt his capabilities as a father. “I reckon Nate will adapt to fatherhood,” explains Jurell. “But it’ll be a huge task, and the fact that he grew up without his biological dad will play on his mind throughout the pregnancy. It will get to a point where Nate will find it difficult to manage a child, and his demons regarding Cain – it will be interesting to see how he copes.” With the baby news hanging firmly over his head, Nate attempts to turn to his friends in the village. And Jurell tells us that despite Nate not being able to confide in his dad yet, there is another member of the Dingle family he can lean on… “Nate’s developed a nice relationship with Sam,” reveals the actor. “He has almost an uncle figure in Sam, and we’ve filmed a few nice scenes between them. Sadly, Nate doesn’t have a family base to go to – however, I’d say he has a confidante in Sam.” So will Nate and Tracy take the plunge and welcome a baby into the world?
