Elaine disappears after a confrontation with Geoff
SHE DISAPPEARS AFTER THEIR DISTURBING CONFRONTATION…
Evil Geoff has a shocking confrontation with his former wife Elaine this week – then she vanishes without a trace! Having brought down Geoff’s good guy facade, Elaine has now also revealed to Tim that she’s his mum. So, it’s no surprise that Geoff’s on a mission to get rid of her as quickly as possible, and discredit her story. Elaine is horrified when Geoff approaches her as she tries to make contact with Tim again. However, worse is ahead as he attempts to take control of the situation in his own way… “Elaine is a real problem for Geoff because she knows the truth and, if other people find out, it’s game over,” explains Ian Bartholomew, who plays the Corrie villain. “How dare this woman come back and ruin his life? It completely throws him at first, although he gets a grip quickly as he’s very resourceful.”
DESPERATE TIMES
We know from the conversations Elaine has already had with both Yasmeen and Alya that she went through a similar ordeal at Geoff’s hands. Worse still, he’s spent the whole of Tim’s life lying to him about the identity of his mother. When Elaine introduces herself to Sally at the café and explains why she wasn’t a part of her son’s life, Sally is even more incensed by her father-in-law’s antics. She’s totally Team Yasmeen, and Geoff is struggling to keep control of Tim as Sally continues to doubt him. “It bothers him that Sally is a constant buzz in Tim’s ear,” admits Ian. “Geoff’s immediate reaction to Elaine’s story was to deny it because it’s so extreme that he hopes people won’t be able to believe it’s true. He never imagined Elaine would resurface, so now he’s very threatened.” When Geoff approaches Elaine, it’s clear she’s scared and desperate to get away. And it’s obvious that Geoff is in control once again… “Geoff threatens her, and we have to believe he’ll stop at nothing to get this woman, this problem, out of his life,” explains Ian. “His anger fuels him to do something about this…”

So, when there’s no sign of Elaine the next day, Alya begins to fear the worst. Has Geoff done something extreme to make sure his ex-wife never shows her face in Weatherfield again? As Alya and Sally scramble to find her, knowing she’s their only hope of proving Geoff’s wrongdoings, Ian says that Geoff still believes his version of the story about their past, despite Elaine telling the truth. “If you tell yourself a story enough times, you can start to believe it,” he shares. “Geoff has told himself time and again that it is the truth and what he’s told Tim is true. But when it finally hits, and Tim discovers his whole life is based on a lie, it’ll be a real kick in the gut. Geoff will face losing the one person he doesn’t want to lose from his life!”
