Dipi stages an intervention – will Shane admit his drugs secret?

Dipi and Toadie decide to confront Shane over his strange behaviour this week, but he continues to lie to hide his addiction! The intervention from Dipi comes after Shane pulls a disappearing act on her. this to Toadie, and he supports her in the intervention – so they tell Shane to pull back on uni, so he can try to get better.” Dipi already has suspicions over Shane’s out-of-character behaviour, but the last straw comes when Shane doesn’t show for a romantic evening she’s planned. “Dipi organises an anniversary dinner, and she basically begs Shane to come – but he doesn’t!” sighs Sharon. “She becomes worried, so finds his location on her ipad and sees Shane behaving strangely alone in the park. Dipi’s really shocked and scared – after 20 years, she does not know who this man is! Ordinarily she would question him, but Dipi doesn’t feel comfortable to. She goes to him hoping he will tell her the truth, but he doesn’t.” Shane has been hiding his drug habit from his family – however, his close colleague Roxy found out. Since then, she’s been trying to convince him to get clean; although when Roxy discovers he’s back on drugs, Shane lashes out, causing more concern. “Dipi’s noticed that Shane has had huge mood swings,” says Sharon. “He’s excessively aggressive and angry at times – he’s short, irritated and snappy with his family, as well as his workmates. But if Dipi found out the truth, I think she’d be totally devastated.”
After the intervention, Shane continues to lie, and convinces Toadie and Dipi that he needs to leave town to de-stress. Will his trip away kick his habit? Or will Shane’s addiction continue to worsen? Despite Dipi being in love with Shane, they’ve had a few rocky patches before. Could Shane’s addiction cause their marriage to break up for good? “It’s hard to say,” ponders Sharon. “Even if they get through the rehabilitation of the addiction together, the mistrust is there. There would be a fear that Shane will always be an addict, and that every fight in the relationship may lead him to use again. That’s a scary thought. But hopefully their love prevails!”
