SHOPPING LISTS AT THE READY, RYLAN’S GOING WILD IN THE AISLES AGAIN…
ASweep fter a successful relaunch with Rylan Clark-neal at the helm last year, Supermarket is back for a new series – channel-swapping from ITV2 to ITV – this week. And proud host Rylan just can’t wait to get shopping… “The supermarket’s back in all its glory!” he grins. “Fully stocked, inflatables and all, and ready for action. There are a couple of new games – including one called Scanagram involving a hand-held scanner – and the supermarket even has its very own loyalty card. We mean business!” Also making a welcome return is Corrie’s own Jennie Mcalpine (Fiz), to make those all-important store announcements via the supermarket tannoy – keeping us in the loop as the shoppers make their mad trolley dashes. “Getting to help out in Rylan’s supermarket last year was a dream,” beams Jennie. “I had such a lot of fun, so it’s an absolute joy to be heading back for more!” “Me and Jennie always have such a laugh, so it’s amazing having her as the voice of the supermarket,” adds Rylan. “We also have our wonderful cashiers, and, of course, Gary the security guard. The team is back!” Alongside the regular contestants’ antics, there are also six celebrity specials in store – with VIP shoppers including Emmerdale’s Charley Webb (Debbie) with her co-star and real-life hubby Mathew Wolfenden (David), Ex-eastender Rita Simons (Roxy) and former Holby star Chizzy Akudolu (Mo), plus Martin and Roman Kemp taking part. “Everyone wants to have a go at Supermarket Sweep!” hoots Rylan. “There have been a few nail-biting moments and some unexpected triumphs… I’m not going to tell you what or who, but you’ll see what I mean!”
