NATURAL BEAUTY
Sir David Attenborough has been responsible for some of the mostwatched natural-history shows ever produced in the UK, and there’s a treat this Bank Holiday, as BBC1 presents a very special new compilation. Taking eight jaw-dropping sequences originally used in Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II, Sir David has recorded a new commentary for the special, while there is an all-new soundtrack from award-winning composers Hans Zimmer and Jacob Shea, in collaboration with the BBC Concert Orchestra and rapper Dave. “I was taught to respect nature and the ecology we live in,” says Hans Zimmer. “Sir David has made it his life’s mission to show us the world we share with all these other creatures, that we are only a small part of. To quote The Lion King, it’s vital we realise how much we are all just part of the circle of life!” “Working with Hans and Dave was very inspiring,” adds Jacob. “The Orca sequence was the one I enjoyed working on the most. The orcas are so graceful and coordinated in their hunt, and the way the swirling music interacts with those images is beautiful.” “Where nature and music come together, it’s only right that I do something like this,” shares Dave. “Hans Zimmer is an inspiration to me, and I admire his raw talent. I tried to lend my own talent – my time and attention – to this project. I just wanted to help!” The special promises to provide some unique and memorable images, and millions are certain to tune in… “We want to give people more of an experience than they’ve ever had,” grins Hans. “To be more articulate in my musical language, the score should open the door for viewers to have an experience – and to be drawn into this incredible world…”
