The future looks rosy for Ben and Callum this week, as Ben gets ready to ask Callum if he’ll move in with him – but could Ben’s dirty dealings scupper their happiness? The two very different worlds that the boys have each chosen to navigate in life are set to collide in catastrophic fashion, after new police recruit Callum is tasked with investigating villain Danny Hardcastle – and stumbles across evidence incriminating Ben in the process! “Callum knew joining the force was always going to be a conflict of interest after falling for a Mitchell,” points out our Walford insider. “But what were the chances of him stumbling across Ben’s criminal dealings on his very first case? This is Callum’s worst nightmare!” The sad reality of Callum’s discovery is that Ben is slowly starting to piece his life back together after a challenging few months. Phil’s son had been struggling with his hearing loss following the head injury he suffered in the River Thames boat crash, and was waiting for an operation for a cochlear implant. Ben has since undergone the procedure during lockdown – and doctors now plan to switch it on. Meanwhile, Callum is at work unknowingly trawling through CCTV footage of the warehouse robbery that Phil and Ben were caught up in earlier this year with bad man Danny. So, imagine Callum’s horror when he spots Ben on the tape, lurking in the shadows! “Callum’s superior informs him that criminal Danny is their new target,” shares our source. “Callum is then tasked with gathering all the evidence he can find on
the warehouse job, as well as information on all of Danny’s associates. What does Callum do: uphold his duty as a police officer, or shop Ben to his bosses?” As Callum tries to stall his colleagues and figure out what the hell to do next, Ben is waiting at the hospital wondering what could be keeping his boyfriend. Luckily, Callum makes it in time for the switching on of Ben’s implant – however, he is clearly very distracted. After pressing Callum to reveal what is troubling him, Ben is stunned when his lover reveals that the police are looking into Danny’s criminal activities. Callum hopes that the revelation will force Ben to admit his involvement with the gangster, but Ben blows it when he lies – and any hope he had of them moving in together begins to slip away. Will Ben’s betrayal spur Callum into handing his soulmate over to the authorities? Or can Ben manage to find a compromise to save not only his skin, but also his relationship?
