THERE’S OUTRAGE ON THE COBBLES AFTER ABI EXPOSES RAY’S PLANS FOR DEMOLITION…
The residents of Coronation Street are fuming this week – after Abi discovers Ray’s grand plan to tear down half the Street and reduce the cobbles to rubble!
For weeks the tycoon and his secret co-conspirator, Debbie, have been plotting to buy up local properties, in order to secure planning permission for a new development. But as Abi finally rumbles Ray’s involvement – and rallies the locals to oppose him – he and
Debbie realise they need to take action against her if they are to salvage their rotten empire…
“Ray underestimates Abi,” shares actor Mark Frost, who plays the sleazy businessman. “Like many powerful men, Ray thinks of people as commodities and he has a very suspect attitude towards women, so that arrogance has led him to write off Abi as a loser and a lowlife – however, I think she has genuinely got under his skin.
“Right now, Abi is still just an irritant – but Ray is starting to realise she is actually causing more trouble than he bargained for,” he adds. “She doesn’t give up, and it’s dawning on Ray that he is going to have to sort her out, one way or another…”
The steely look in Debbie’s eyes speaks volumes, as she vows to put the kibosh on Abi’s protest. Kevin’s sister is still flying under the radar as Ray’s wing woman, so she has the freedom to regain the upper hand for them undetected. Yet once Ray’s true motives are revealed, is Debbie prepared to take on the whole Street?

After putting two and two together, Abi breaks into Ray’s office at the Bistro and secures damning evidence. She takes it to Sally, who is horrified to learn from a contact at the council that Ray plans to bring in the bulldozers.
With that, Abi rallies the locals – and they ambush Ray at a press conference…
“Ray has a personal loathing for the residents of Coronation Street, because they’re sentimental, and have a sense of pride in their community which he views as a sign of weakness,” explains Mark. “As the residents band together, we begin to notice the cracks in his empire. The stakes are so high that, combined with the need to quell the protest, Ray is being pushed further and further, and becomes more desperate as the opposition gains numbers. He is also having to go to more extreme lengths.”
Meanwhile, Abi, Adam, David and Shona realise that, without Underworld, Ray can’t pull off his master plan. So how are they set to react if Gary admits that he’s already sold the factory to Ray – and has been in cahoots with the enemy?
