Kelly takes a tumble!

Pride comes before a fall, as the old saying goes. It’s true in a literal way for Kelly Windsor this week, when, one minute, she’s preening before a Home Farm mirror, and the next she’s unconscious at the foot of the stairs. But this is no divine punishment for mortal sin; rather more to do with the fact she receives a hefty shove from Kim Tate.

Kelly has been living high on the hog at the big house ever since she convinced Chris that she was expecting his baby. She’s also been quietly saving for a termination – so when Chris gives her money to buy a new dress for a party, Kelly pops the cash into her piggy bank and helps herself to one of Kim’s frocks instead. But as Kim finds the latest thorn in her side parading around in her favourite strappy cocktail number, a struggle ends with Kelly’s head making a not-unexpectedly hollow ‘bonk’ as it collides with the ground floor.

The tragedy is, of course, that Kelly loses her baby. Chris is beside himself, and blames while Kim herself – and Kelly for that matter – is quietly pleased with this bleak development. However, it’s still only half the story, as it later falls to Paddy to tell Biff that the baby was actually his… Whimsical distraction comes in the form of Mandy’s lingerie fashion show, which ends with the men of the village having to parade in their boxers. So if ‘youthful Zak Dingle in mustard pants’ is your fetish, this week is surely essential viewing.
