The fight for Dipi: violence erupts between rivals Shane & Pierce
SHANE LETS RIP AT PIERCE OVER HIS AFFAIR WITH HIS WIFE…
The simmering tension between love rivals Shane and Pierce finally boils over this week, and the two men end up in a full-on brawl!
Shane’s been devastated ever since he discovered that his wife Dipi has been having an affair with their neighbour, Pierce. But as his anger finally erupts, Shane jumps in his car and follows Pierce to a camp site, where he confronts him…
“Shane’s angry – he certainly doesn’t like Pierce at this point,” reveals Nicholas Coghlan, who plays him. “He feels betrayed by him, it all comes to a head, so they end up having a bit of a scuffle. His frustration at the situation boils over, and Shane really goes to town on Pierce.”
It’s no surprise that Shane wants to take a swing at the handsome businessman. Since Dipi admitted she’s been having a secret fling with Pierce, her husband has been devastated and confused, and desperate to know whether or not Dipi wants to save their marriage.
“There’s a period of limbo, where Shane doesn’t know what Dipi is thinking,” explains Nick. “Shane is ready to forgive Dipi, especially given his own betrayal with taking drugs. He’s pretty understanding of why Dipi might have made those choices, and he’s ready to work on their marriage.
“However, it’s the lack of communication from Dipi that really throws Shane,” he adds. “There’s no clarity, and he’s left needing some solace – and it’s a case of whether or not he’ll get back on the drugs.”
Little does Shane realise that his wife’s silence stems from the fact that she no longer sees a future for the two of them! And following Shane and Pierce’s campsite confrontation, Pierce is also forced to admit that his marriage to Chloe is over…
So with Pierce seemingly a free agent again, might Dipi decide he’s the one she truly wants to be with? And where would that leave Shane?
“Shane would be devastated if Dipi chose Pierce – that’s the thing he’s fearing most,” admits Nick. “That would come close to breaking him. They’ve been together for over 20 years, they have three children, and Shane is committed to their marriage.
“For all the love there is between them, Shane and Dipi haven’t necessarily had any honest conversations about who they are and what they want in life,” he continues. “Maybe this situation will lay the groundwork for that kind of honesty to finally occur…”
