MANIPULATIVE MEENA WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET WHAT SHE WANTS, WARNS PAIGE SANDHU…
If you thought bedding her sister’s husband was the worst thing Meena Jutla could do, think again – she’s about to prove she’s much scarier! In fact, a bunk-up with her brother-in-law will look positively tame once Meena’s latest manipulative scheme plays out. Motivated by her belief that David Metcalfe is her true love and destiny, Meena puts a breathtakingly twisted plan in place to get him back. And Dales actress Paige Sandhu is already bracing herself for the fan backlash…
“I’m guessing the audience won’t really like Meena after this,” she laughs. “It’s entertaining, but if I had to watch someone do that, I’d be like, ‘Wow, that’s horrible!’ I’d believe that Meena was the sort of person who will step on anybody to get what she wants!”
What Meena wants is a second chance with David, who’s backed off since being warned by Manpreet that her sister is trouble. She concocts a plan that puts Rishi in grave danger, allows her to play the hero, and therefore win Manpreet over. From there, Meena emotionally blackmails Manpreet into talking to David and convincing him to get back with Meena. It’s contrived, it’s selfish, and it could end in tragedy.
“Meena has cleverly thought up this evil plan to get Manpreet to do her bidding,” explains Paige. “She changes the location on the sat-nav in Rishi’s car, takes his pills and Manpreet’s phone, so he can’t get in contact with her. When Rishi goes missing, everyone gets tense, and Meena stirs it all up. She’s trying to steer the situation so that it comes out with her in the best possible position.”
When a search party is launched, Meena suggests they split up, and she heads to the location she knows she set the sat-nav for. When she arrives, Rishi has crashed the car and is in an awful state, but unhurt. Surely, this makes her realise how wicked her actions have been.
“She’s very worried about Rishi and grateful to find him okay,” shares Paige. “Meena takes care of him as if he’s a child, and he’s really grateful. He’s saying things like, ‘You’ve saved my life!’ and is going over the top with it, as Rishi does. But Meena just laps it up.”
Relieved Manpreet hails her a hero too, and the whole family believes she’s a saint. Although it is touch and go for Rishi, it looks as if Meena won’t be learning any lessons about her risky scheming.
“The plan was amazing, according to her!” shares Paige. “It couldn’t have gone better. Meena has gone from evil sister to saviour in Manpreet’s eyes. She acts all humble, which is very unlike Meena, but she’s putting on a show, and then nudges Manpreet to talk to David.”
David has a terrible relationship track record, and it doesn’t look as if things will improve if he does get back with Meena. But Paige reckons her alter ego is determined to make him her man.
“David could be the one – she’s never felt this way before!” she says. “There are real feelings there for both of them. The reason David listened to Manpreet is that he’s had an awful history with Jacob and Maya. Of course, he will be terrified about his next relationship.”
It looks as though David should stick to his guns, because while Meena isn’t a child abuser, she does have a very dark side. For Paige, it’s awesome to play such an evil character…
“I always want to play the baddie – they’re way more fun!” she grins. “I can’t wait for us to see more of this darker side. Viewers might not like Meena, but she’s entertaining – what will she do next?”
David could be the one – Meena’s never felt this way before!
