Hollyoaks star Steph Waring talks to us about Cindy’s family life…
Cindy and Luke have been the hottest couple in Hollyoaks since they got together. However, they’ve been having a difficult time since Luke’s devastating diagnosis, as well as Ollie’s drug addiction! Steph Waring (Cindy) tells us about her screen family’s difficult situation…
Can you explain what happens to Luke this week?
Luke forgets things a couple of times, which is a symptom of frontotemporal dementia. Cindy’s picking up on every little thing when Luke would rather forget it, he’s brushing it under the carpet. But Cindy’s trying to stay strong for Luke because she loves him so much.
Ollie can’t be helping the situation, as he’s struggling with his drug addiction…
Cindy and Luke find an empty baggie in his room and have to confront him, but Ollie blames his drug issues on Luke’s illness. Cindy’s hard on Ollie, but he’s having a difficult time…
We’ve seen new actor Gabriel Clark (aka Ollie) in action, how’s he settling into Hollyoaks life? Gabriel’s a really lovely lad – I think it is hard to step into somebody else’s shoes. However, he’s fitting in really well and I think Gabriel’s learning a lot from myself and Gary [Lucy, who plays Luke] as well. Gabriel has a lot on his shoulders, although he’s doing really well!
What do you make of Cindy and Luke’s relationship?
I love this pairing – they’re so alike! They both enjoy the extracurricular activities, and they just seem to have this passion for each other. They have such a spark, and I think it’s because I’ve known Gary since we were teenagers, so being opposite him is so easy.
What would you like to see next for them? Cindy’s had enough weddings, but I still think they should get married! That’d be wedding number six for her, but I think that’s what’s destined for Cindy and Luke…
