Will Charles help out Harriet?
BUT WILL CHARLES BE HARRIET’S FRIEND OR FOE?
New vicar Charles rocked up in the Dales at Christmas – and quickly worked out that all was not right with Harriet. Here, newcomer Kevin Mathurin gives us the lowdown on his character…
Hi, Kevin! What was it like knowing that your first episode would air on Christmas Day?
It’s an amazing introduction, and an exciting episode to be a part of. As far as Charles knew, Harriet was ill, so he was asked to go and oversee a wedding. But obviously other things went on that day…
What is Charles’ reaction when he realises that one of the graves has been disturbed?
As much as he wants to be on side with Harriet, he has a conflict with his commitment to the Church and the parish. Charles wants to do everything by the book – he wants to help Harriet as much as possible, but he wants to do right, too.
So what does he decide to do?
Harriet gives Charles an explanation, and he trusts her, so lets his compassionate side get the better of him, and helps her out. He decides not to report it to the bishop.
There’s also trouble in store for Charles’ son Ethan this week, after he’s arrested for drugs possession (see p16)… When Charles hears that Ethan is in a spot of bother, he drops everything to be there for him. Charles has brought up Ethan as a single parent, so he listens to his side of the story to try to work out what happened.
What else is happening in Charles’ life?
There are plenty of exciting stories on the way! Interesting encounters with new people, and some from the past…
