BULLSEYE!

-

Is it just us, or does Aaron have more spark with Mackenzie than any of his previous love interests – including the current one – put together?

Have you noticed how Max has a cap just for hanging out on the Thames? It doesn’t seem to bring him any luck.

Nurse Sonia’s response to the horror of Covid in hospitals – airing minutes after the PM ordered a new lockdown – was harrowing; but so odd given that EastEnders seems to exist in a largely virus-free world. Talk about having your cake and eating it.

We have a confession. Our favourite soap over Christmas was actually Bridgerton on Netflix. It’s basically Hollyoaks in corsets, in the best possible way.

Kim’s pursuit of Will is such an accurate portrayal of a predator hunting in its natural habitat that we half-expect David Attenborough to pipe up as narrator.

Week by week, Jack and Denise is the EastEnders romance we’ve really come to invest in, without even realising it was happening. Perhaps its success is in the chemistry between stars Scott Maslen and Diane Parish from their days on The Bill – or maybe, with Mick and Linda’s troubles, it satisfies our need for just one happy, grownup relationship in Walford. Either way, all the best to them!

Emma’s considering going to live with her uncle Andy in Spain. Yes, her future in Weatherfield is looking that bleak.

We were amused by this special effect glitch in EastEnders. It must be where they get that old Walford cliché: “Just wind your neck in, will ya?”

Heartwarming to see that the dummy Gary saved from being run over is up and about again. At last some good news!

Nina pronounces ‘Evelyn’ as ‘Evil-Lyn’, like the associate of Skeletor and long-time foe of He-Man. We’d wondered what had happened to her.

In this scene, Dr Gaddas is called upon to look appalled at the supposed mess in Leanne’s flat. But this is what our place looks like after a solid day’s cleaning.

So… Callum was double-crossing the Mitchells, while also triple-crossing Thompson, who was dead in Stuart and Rainie’s funeral parlour, but then he wasn’t, and now Jack’s sorted it, and Ben and Callum can live happily ever after… Is that right?
