Yasmeen’s unpaid debts crisis!
HE HAS ONE MORE TRICK UP HIS SLEEVE – THOUSANDS OF POUNDS OF UNPAID DEBTS…
Geoff continues to torture Yasmeen from beyond the grave this week, as bailiffs turn up at her house – to seize goods in lieu of the thousands of pounds worth of debt Geoff racked up!
During his reign of terror over his wife, Geoff had Yasmeen sign numerous documents to take out loans, and a massive amount of debt has been clocked up. Now Geoff has gone and the repayments are way overdue, leaving Yasmeen overwhelmed – and facing the prospect of going bankrupt…
“Yasmeen has hidden all the bills, because she believes deep down that she is to blame,” explains Shelley King, who plays her. “She wants to run away from everything; she doesn’t want Speed Daal, she doesn’t want the house, she just wants it all to go away. Yasmeen doesn’t know what that would mean for her future, but she wants to get away and have a clean slate.”
And that could soon be a reality for poor Yasmeen, as she stands to lose everything! Although she’s aware of the fact that the loans have been taken out and need to be paid off, she’s been hiding the final demands over recent weeks, unable to face them…
But after a customer calls into Speed Daal and asks after Geoff, leaving Yasmeen shaken, Elaine suggests they remove all traces of the vile man from the restaurant. And it’s as they’re doing so that Alya finds all the bills that haven’t been paid!
“This is just something else that Yasmeen has put to the back of her mind,” says Shelley. “She did tell Imran that Geoff got her to sign things, and she just signed what he asked her to. She’s intelligent enough to know she has done those

things, yet she blames herself – she questions why she did those things. She believes that she deserves punishment.”
Now that Alya is aware of how much bother her gran is in, she vows to sort the situation, and makes an appointment with the bank. But when Imran reminds her that Yasmeen still needs to settle her legal bills, Alya realises there’s no quick fix for these debts. And things get worse as the bailiffs knock on their door…
“This will push Yasmeen over the edge,” warns Shelley. “All those fears that she has, all the things that have been locked away in a box in the back of her head suddenly exist for real, because there is a man at the front door saying he is there to take everything away. The self-hatred returns, and she becomes Geoff in her head, putting herself down. He’s telling her she’s a fool, and she has lost everything because of her own actions. It is so sad that she believes that.”
There’s more bad news on the way too, after Tim learns that his dad has left him half of No 6, and a quarter of Speed Daal in his will! So as the bailiffs circle and Tim grapples with what to do about his dad’s legacy, is there anything Yasmeen can do to save her home and business? Or does she stand to lose everything?
