Peter’s fears: is Carla cheating?

Peter faces a major hurdle in his recovery this week, when he jumps to the conclusion that Carla has slept with Lucas!
After Carla’s handsome new business associate drops by the factory, Carla later lets Peter know that she’s off to Harrogate for the night to meet one of Lucas’ colleagues.
Peter’s not at all happy about that – and things get worse when he drops by the factory, and overhears Carla and Lucas in conversation…
“Peter has every reason to be concerned – Lucas did ask Carla to spend the night with him the last time he was in Weatherfield,” our cobbles spy reminds us. “And Carla almost took him up on his offer!
Ultimately, she chose Peter, although it’s not clear whether or not she now regrets that decision. With Lucas back at the factory again, she might well be tempted to stray!”
While Lucas assures Carla that the trip to Harrogate is strictly business, she’s clearly uncomfortable to know that he’ll be spending more time at the factory. But is that because she feels guilty that she almost chose him over Peter, or because she doesn’t trust herself to resist him again in the future?
Either way, when worried Peter drops by Underworld with flowers for Carla, he spots her chatting to Lucas, and can’t help but loiter to listen in to what they’re talking about. And it’s clear from the look on his face that he doesn’t like what he hears!
“Peter is deeply upset as he leaves the factory,” reveals our sneak. “When Carla returns home to pick up her overnight bag, she’s bewildered to find him feeling so down. And as Carla heads off to Harrogate, Peter’s imagination runs riot, while he considers what she might be doing with Lucas while she’s away…” What Peter doesn’t realise is that Carla has sent Sarah on the trip instead, after Jenny persuades her to ditch work and join her for a glass of wine at the Rovers! Yet when Peter tries to call Carla, the tipsy woman sends his message to voicemail.

Carla’s lying to him – and he’s even more confused after Adam pops round to see him, and reveals that Sarah went to the meeting instead. Now Peter knows that Carla’s keeping secrets, and worse still, he has no idea where she actually is!”
As Peter spends the night stewing over Carla’s whereabouts, will he be tempted to reach for the bottle? And how is Carla going to react when he later confronts her, and accuses her of doing the dirty on him with Lucas?
