Nate & Tracy welcome a baby!

- Kate White

There’s high drama for expectant parents Tracy and Nate this week, after Tracy goes into labour without realising it! Following a couple of false alarms, Tracy’s convinced that the contractions she’s feeling are just Braxton Hicks, so doesn’t want to make a fuss. But when Cain and Chas come across the mum-tobe doubled over in pain on Main Street, Tracy’s waters break and it’s time for her to go to hospital. However, terrified Nate is left in a spin while he tries to find the courage to get over his fears.

“Tracy doesn’t want to stress Nate out any more”

AMY “Tracy’s fighting through it – she doesn’t want to stress Nate out any more with another false alarm,” explains Amy Walsh, who plays her. “He’s freaking out about not being strong enough to be at the birth, so when her contractions start at 2am, she goes the whole night thinking they are just little twinges. But when Chas and Cain find her, and she tells them it’s okay after she breathes through her contractions, Chas goes, ‘Yep, you are in labour!’”

FATHER AND SON

Cain had been headed for a romantic night away with Moira – however, he leaves her at the hotel while he goes to accompany his son and Tracy to the hospital. All the way there, Nate is trying to summon up the courage to be by his partner’s side, but he’s phobic about human blood and gore – and he’s struggling to get past it…

“Nate’s really squeamish and scared!” explains Jurell Carter, who plays him. “He and Tracy watch a horror film to help him overcome it! When Tracy goes into labour, it catches Nate by surprise, and he’s like a deer in headlights. He knows that he has to get into action, but Nate’s not prepared. When they get in the labour room, it’s all too much for him.”

Seeing that Nate is in a terrible state, Tracy bravely tells him to go and take a break outside and leave her to it for a while. When he emerges into the hospital corridor, Nate is shocked to find Cain still waiting there.

“It’s a nice surprise, and it’s a really heartwarming scene between father and son,” enthuses Jurell. “Cain just grounds Nate and puts things into perspective. He talks about how children need your presence, which really touches Nate. Having his dad there, which is what he’s always wanted and needed, is so nice.”

LABOUR DAY!

As Nate and Cain have their heart-to-heart, Tracy is busy with the small matter of giving birth. Nate arrives just in time as Tracy delivers their beautiful baby daughter. The couple fall

JURELL madly in love the second they see their little girl, and decide to name her ‘Frankie’, after Tracy’s late father, Frank.

“Nate’s absolutely ecstatic,” grins Jurrell. “Having little Frankie in his arms, he’s over the moon and has this sense of pride. This is without doubt the best day of Nate’s life!”

And as Nate and Tracy set out on their parenthood trip, both are determined to make a success of their new journey.

“Nate and Tracy haven’t had the best luck in life, so they just want to have that beautiful family unit and to do their best for little Frankie,” says Jurell. “I think they’re going to be amazing parents.”

“I reckon what’s why they both crave it so much,” adds Amy. “Tracy and Nate have each other now, and have that opportunity to raise a family. I’m sure they’ll have flare-ups, but they will both strive to do their best for that child…”
