Bella prepares to say her final goodbyes to Colby this week, when he’s rushed to hospital after a prison attack. Colby’s life hangs in the balance following a fight with inmates after they find out that he’s a cop. Jasmine spots Colby when he’s rushed to hospital and is determined to let Bella see her brother – possibly for the last time…
“Colby being hurt in jail was a big fear of Bella’s,” explains Courtney Miller, who plays her.
“Colby’s always been Bella’s rock, so seeing him unable to be strong has turned her world upside down.”
With Colby a prisoner, visiting him is no easy feat, so Jasmine and Lewis devise a plan. Meanwhile, Dean summons the River Boys to storm the hospital, creating a distraction so they can slip into the ward.
“Colby’s in a critical state and no one knows if he’ll pull through,” reveals Courtney. “Bella wants nothing more than for Colby to recover, but the sooner he does, the sooner he’ll be taken back to his cell where he’s at risk of harm again. She wonders if it’s easier for Colby not to get better.”
As Bella and Dean get into Colby’s hospital room, they’re discovered by Christian. However, rather than revealing their whereabouts, he gives them time to say goodbye – and Bella worries it’s the last time she’ll ever see Colby. Then, when they leave, Dean tells Bella the painful truth about what Colby’s facing.
“Dean knows the ins and outs of prison,” shares Courtney. “That can be helpful, but it also has disadvantages, as they both understand the hardships Colby faces as a cop. Bella needs Dean to be the reassuring figure, but really he’s just as scared as she is.”
After Dean tells Bella that Colby is likely to die in prison, she storms off, determined not to give up on her brother.
“Bella will always be hoping that Colby will be released,” Courtney tells us. “Yet she’s old enough to realise that his
sentence for murder can’t be undone. Worse, she knows that he committed the crime.”
Later, Dean goes back to the hospital and tells Colby he needs to do whatever it takes to survive prison – and it’ll have an outcome with no going back. What could they be plotting?
