Is it the end for Carla and Peter?
AS PETER TAKES A TURN FOR THE WORSE, CARLA IS OFFERED A NEW LIFE BY LUCAS...
Traumatised Carla is offered a lifeline this week, when Lucas asks her to move to Devon with him, and free herself from alcoholic Peter for good.
The tempting offer comes as Carla ends up by Peter’s hospital bedside yet again, after he seemingly has a relapse. Steve is horrified to find Peter drunk and locks him away so he can’t get near more booze. But when Peter later collapses, Steve rings the ambulance, and he’s rushed to the hospital, where Carla races to be by his side.
“This is just another one in a long line of nightmares that Carla can’t seem to wake up from,” explains our Street spy. “Peter is at death’s door, so Carla can’t believe he would keep drinking and destroying all their lives. When she gets to his side, he swears he hasn’t had a drink, but Carla doesn’t want to hear it. She’s heard nothing but lie after lie, and she’s had enough.”
When Steve was dealing with Peter, Carla was with Lucas, having some ‘me time’ in Manchester. Enjoying the company of her old friend – and talking about his experiences of living with his addict girlfriend – has done Carla the world of good. Lucas is kind, patient, handsome and caring, and he’s a great catch. Being with him is making Carla realise what she’s missing out on by standing by Peter.
Things are incredibly tense at the hospital, so when Lucas checks in on Carla, she is relieved to see him. However, he stuns her by asking her to give up this life of misery and

move to Devon to be happy with him. Steve’s there as Lucas makes his play and tells Carla to grab her chance at happiness with both hands. So, what will Carla do?
“Everyone knows Carla loves Peter, but she’s going to be dragged down with him if this carries on,” shares our mole. “However, there’s a curveball when the doctors confirm Peter’s story; he hadn’t been drinking. His symptoms are the result of liver failure, so Carla and Steve feel awful for doubting him. However, Carla still has to decide if she will stay as Peter fights for his life, or if she’ll put herself first.”
Horrified to realise her mistake, Carla begs Peter to forgive her. But instead of getting angry, desolate Peter makes Carla promise that she won’t stay out of pity, and will put her own happiness first. With his words ringing in her ears, Carla has a huge decision to make – does her future lie with Peter or Lucas?
