FUNNY MONEY!

COMIC RELIEF IS BACK FOR A HOOTER AND A HALF (HO HO), WITH LIVE PERFORMANCES AND COMEDY SPECIALS TO RAISE BIG BUCKS FOR PROJECTS AROUND THE WORLD…

-

For a far nicer reason to stay home than the one we’ve had for the past 12 months, Red Nose Day 2021’s big night in will bring us live performances, silly sketches and one-off comedy specials galore – all in the name of charity of course. Hosting proceedings will be Alesha Dixon, David Tennant, Davina McCall, Paddy McGuinness and Sir Lenny Henry – and Davina’s thrilled to be on board again…

“I’ve always loved the way that Comic Relief approaches raising funds for the projects it supports,” she enthuses. “I would do anything for them!”

It’s not the first time Davina has worked with David on the charity fundraiser. But last time, she had some explaining to do…

“When I hosted with David before, I had such a great evening,” grins the presenter. “But when I got home afterwards, I had to explain to my daughter how I ended up snogging Doctor Who!”

While we’ve no news on kissing, here’s a rundown of some of the fun you can expect to see on Friday night’s show…

Vicar Of Dibley

Geraldine Granger (Dawn French) is joined by special guest the Reverend Kate Bottley, as she takes on the villagers’ fundraising challenge: to lip-sync to Lizzo’s 2020 hit, Juice.

Comic Opera

Five comedians – who’ve been given just 24 hours to learn to become opera singers – perform live, thankfully with support from soprano Charlotte Church and the English National Opera.

2020: The Movie

Prepare for the biggest blockbuster never made with this part-biopic, part-disaster movie that turns A-listers into unlikely everyday heroes. Stars Keira Knightley and Anna Friel, among others.

ALSO ....

We’ll also be treated to Tim Vine’s Joke In A Box – in which the comedian sits inside a fortune-telling machine, ready to surprise some unsuspecting servicemen and women; a bespoke Staged sketch, which sees Michael Christopher Sheen and David John Tennant (in that order) joined by Sir Lenny Henry, and a unique mash-up of award-winning comedies Normal People and Fleabag, featuring lovestruck teens and a hot priest. Yay!
