Has Paul killed Vinny?

STAG NIGHT HORROR SEES HIM FINALLY GO TOO FAR…

- Steven Murphy

Paul’s stag night ends in violence this week, as Vinny finally uncovers the truth about his dad’s recent ‘kidnapping’.

The shaken son confronts Paul about faking his abduction, and vows to tell all to mum Mandy. Cornered, Paul responds in the way we’ve come to expect. However, as he pummels Vinny until he’s on the ground battered and bleeding, it seems this time Paul has crossed a line…

“As ever with Paul, when Vinny confronts him, he tries to wriggle out of it,” explains Reece Dinsdale, who plays Paul. “But he runs out of answers, the red mist descends, and again he resorts to violence. Yet this time, something happens

– Vinny drops to the deck, and he’s out cold in a way he hasn’t been before. Paul thinks he has killed his son. The horror of that hits him immediately!”

The violent showdown comes after Vinny grows suspicious of Paul’s story over his kidnapping. Mandy and Vinny were told to come up with the ransom money in return for Paul’s safety after he was abducted, and the ordeal even brought Mandy and Paul back together. But when Paul contradicts himself over the details, Vinny’s interest is piqued, and having discussed his worries with girlfriend Liv – whose money was going to be used for the ransom – he plans to catch Paul out…

“Vinny tells Paul that the van used in the kidnapping is parked up at the scrapyard,” says Reece. “However, there is no van – Vinny is actually playing detective here.”

Panicked, Paul quickly rings Connor, who he was in cahoots with over the kidnap. But little does he know that Vinny is listening in, shattered to have Paul’s lies confirmed, and disgusted that his dad set the whole thing up in order to con Liv out of her money.

“Just like all abusers, Paul tries to turn it on Vinny…”

Soon, the father and son have their awful showdown, and Paul lashes out…

“Just like all abusers, Paul tries to turn it on Vinny – trying to make him feel small, and make him feel as though he deserves a beating,” explains Reece. “It’s a point of no return.”

As Paul takes in what he’s done, will Vinny survive – and if he does, can Paul wriggle out of this terrible situation after what’s happened?
