“If Ed falls off the wagon, who can blame him?”

Cobbles star Trevor Michael Georges gives us the lowdown on his alter ego’s nightmare situation…

-

Hi, Trevor! Poor Ed must be going through hell right now…

Ed’s very confused, unstable and off-balance. He’s smart enough not to be a complete hypocrite about Aggie keeping secrets, because he kept his gambling secret for long enough. He’s no angel, but for a man who is just getting back on his feet, it’s hard.

Could the recent revelations see Ed return to gambling?

It’s interesting, because if he did relapse, would you blame him? But in their family, Ed’s role is of the peacemaker because Aggie lets rip, she really goes for it! It’s his job to balance things out. So, I like to think that no matter how bad it gets, Ed will find that special bit of strength.

You’re heading towards your second anniversary on Coronations Street – do you feel settled in now?

I was warned by a fellow actor that it takes a couple of years to settle in. Which I thought was horrifying at the time, because I just wanted to come straight in! But he was absolutely right! Now I do feel very much part of the Street.

And the drama keeps coming – are you enjoying Ed interacting with other Weatherfield characters such as Paul and Ronnie? Yes, I’m loving working with Peter Ash [Paul], who is such a fabulous actor. Paul and Ed make an oddball couple! There’s a lot for Ed to learn from Paul – he’s had a son who’s gay for about five minutes, and he now thinks he’s an expert! I was over the moon about Ronnie – it’s like seeing Ed when he was younger, his attitude, and his go-getter style. Like

Ed until he became a family man…
