FORTUNE HUNTERS

A GROUP OF YOUNG KENNEL WORKERS HAS WON THE LOTTERY… BUT WHERE’S THEIR JACKPOT?

- Allison Jones

As this drama series about the lives of a succession of lottery-winning syndicates returns for a fourth run, we’re in Yorkshire with the team at Woodvale dog kennels on a mad dash to Monaco, where they’re hoping to track down their missing money!

The co-workers are initially thrilled when local newsagent

Frank (Neil Morrissey) informs them that their syndicate ticket has scooped £500. But after the crew double-checks the numbers, it transpires that they may have won a lot more than that – as series creator Kay Mellor explains…

“This series of The Syndicate is different from previous ones [series one to three aired between 2012-2015], in that it’s very fresh, young and vibrant – and has a lot of dogs!” she reveals. “It also has a completely different structure. What normally happens is that the syndicate wins the lottery in episode one, and episode two is an unravelling of what’s happened to them since they won. But in this series, these people have a good idea that they’ve won more money than they’ve been told, so are trying to find the man who sold them their ticket to confront him…”

Starring alongside Neil Morrissey is Emmerdale’s Gaynor Faye as Frank’s fiancée Cheryl – with the five-strong Woodvale syndicate played by Katherine Rose Morley (Last Tango In Halifax)

as Keeley, Line Of Duty’s

Taj Atwal as Roxy, Gaynor’s former Dales colleague Emily Head (Rebecca White) as Colette, Kieran Urquhart (Vera)

as Jake, and Grey’s Anatomy

star Liberty Hobbs making her UK debut as Gemma.

And there are more familiar faces, with Kym Marsh as

IT’S A CAT-AND-MOUSE CHASE, AND NOTHING IS AS IT SEEMS!”

Keeley’s mum Donna,

Corrie’s Katie McGlynn as Jake’s ex Georgina,

Waterloo Road’s Mark Benton as Woodvale’s owner Graham – and YouTuber and Strictly finalist Joe Sugg as Roxy’s boyfriend Sam! We’re even reunited with Denise (Lorraine Bruce) from the first three series, who’s still working for lottery company Mercury Millions after her own big win in series one…

“It’s set between Yorkshire and Monaco as the syndicate tries to find out what’s gone wrong and why,” shares Kay. “Viewers will be rooting for them – but will they get what’s rightfully theirs? It’s a cat-andmouse chase, and nothing is as it seems!”
