FAITH NO MORE?

EVE MYLES RETURNS FOR A THIRD AND FINAL TIME, AS FAITH IS TESTED AS NEVER BEFORE…

- Tom Spilsbury

Having become a runaway success on BBC iPlayer, Welsh drama Keeping Faith is back for a third series on BBC1 this week. When we last saw solicitor Faith Howells, played by Torchwood and Broadchurch star Eve Myles, she was in an emotional place after splitting from hubby Evan. So, is there any chance of a new romance?

“No, her love-life is nonexistent!” laughs Eve. “She’s completely focused on her children and her new law firm. At the end of series two, Faith had asked Evan to leave, and a divorce was imminent. She’d come to learn of his secrets and had become embroiled in the dark underworld that Evan was trying to run away from.”

And it’s not just the break-up weighing heavily on Faith. She also takes on an emotionally draining court case involving a 13-year-old boy with an aggressive brain tumour.

“It’s an extremely sensitive subject that highlights many questions,” explains Eve. “It’s the type of case that would either make or break Faith – and I think it does both!”

But when we press Eve for specifics, she’s enigmatic…

“Expect the unexpected!” she chuckles. “Even more secrets are revealed in series three. There’s a new character who shakes Faith’s world just as she’s about to get back on her feet, and her past comes back to haunt her. We have some amazing guest stars, too – they’ve been part of bringing this series to new heights.”

One of those is screen legend Celia Imrie, who plays ruthless Rose Fairchild.

“Rose comes into town like a menacing force,” promises Eve. “She’s a heavyweight in manipulation, with many dangerous contacts. She’s a woman with nothing to lose!”

One thing’s for sure, this series will conclude all the plot threads, with the show’s creators confirming that this third run will be the last. So how does Eve feel about saying goodbye to a character she’s played since 2017?

“My favourite thing about Faith is that she never gives up,” shares the actress. “I will particularly miss her courage.”
