BACK TO LIFE!

SABRINA GRANT TELLS US ALL ABOUT HER CREATIVE NEW SHOW…

- Tom Spilsbury

We all have things around our homes too precious to throw away, and perhaps no longer useful. But could these knick-knacks be transformed into something entirely new? Well, that’s the aim of this new BBC1 daytime show, in which a team of creative experts breathes new life into the most unlikely items…

“The team is so inventive!” exclaims Saved And Remade’s host, Sabrina Grant. “I don’t know how their brains work. We had this beautiful Polish cloak that was transformed into a piece of furniture. Everyone’s so highly skilled – they have great imagination!”

Many of the items featured in the show hold sentimental value for their owners, so there’s a lot of trust involved…

“I think people are nervous,” admits Sabrina. “They come to us because they’ve kept hold of these things, but aren’t using them. They’ve been stashed away in a cupboard or a loft, so actually, they’re quite willing for their item to undergo a complete transformation. I was quite surprised by some of the stuff – there was even a broken boat, but the owners didn’t want to get rid of it because their children had learned to sail in it.”

There are also items that are worth a lot in their own right…

“One guy had his late mum’s wedding and engagement rings,” reveals Sabrina. “He’d wanted to do something with this jewellery for ages, but he didn’t trust anyone. Our team is highly skilled – so people are getting bespoke pieces made that can cost thousands. So, they really are in safe hands!”
