My Telly HEAVEN!

- ...with Grant Urquhart

Waiter Grant Urquhart is currently looking after the singletons hoping for holiday romance at the First Dates Hotel – and here he reveals the TV shows he’s smitten with…

Hello, Grant! What were your fave shows when you were growing up? As a family we always watched the big prime-time Saturday night television –

Pop Idol, Britain’s Got Talent, Strictly… we watched them all – probably while wolfing down a takeaway. Then

Match Of The Day to top the night off!

What have you most enjoyed watching on TV recently?

There’s been loads of amazing TV on recently – thank goodness, we needed it! – but I got hooked on Married At First Sight Australia. It’s kind of like First Dates on steroids. Two people getting married to someone they’ve never met before – what could go wrong?! EVERYTHING!

How about your favourite show to relax and unwind in front of? Friends, undoubtedly. I’ve watched it all at least 20 times. It just never gets old.

Was there a kids’ cartoon you loved? I absolutely loved Pokémon, and I watched it every day before school. I still have the theme tune on my workout playlist…

What about comedy shows?

E4 has started re-running Cheers, King Of Queens and Frasier in the mornings, and I’m absolutely obsessed! They’re hilarious with great casts – and I catch myself humming the theme tunes all day. I’m a sucker for a sitcom!

What was the last show you binge-watched?

A drama on Netflix called Kingdom, which is about a martial arts fighter played by Frank Grillo. I’m gutted that it’s not been picked up for another series!

Is there a TV personality who’s always inspired you?

I’ve loved Noel Fielding ever since

The Mighty Boosh, and I love him even more on The Great British Bake Off.

He’s genuine and unique – a great host!

Which television show would you like to appear in?

I’d have loved to have been one of the Starks in Game Of Thrones. I’m from York, so I have the accent. And having Sean Bean playing your dad would be a northerner’s dream role!
