“Whit thinks Kush is ‘the one’ and this is her happy-ever-after…”

- Sarah Ellis

Kush’s future hangs in the balance this week, as he heads to court charged with his part in the Mitchells’ luxury-car heist – but all hell breaks loose when Whitney discovers that her fiancé has done a deal with the devil!

Knowing that he’s about to go to prison for a potentially long time, Kush is keen to make Whitney his missus before he’s locked away. They’re already engaged, so Kush thinks that organising a surprise wedding would be the ultimate romantic gesture – however, will Whit feel the same way when he springs it on her?

“Under normal circumstances, this is something that Whitney would be very excited about,” grins Shona McGarty, who plays the bride-to-be. “Whitney likes to be spoilt a bit, and anything Kush does, she’d be happy with. I think Whitney would get married in a pair of leggings, if I’m honest, she’s quite down to earth. She just loves Kush so much, and she wants to be with him and to be happy.”

However, the circumstances that Whit and Kush find themselves in right now are anything but normal. While Whit is well aware that her fella is due in court charged with robbery, what she doesn’t realise is that he cut a deal with the Mitchells to take the rap for more of their crimes in return for a very generous pay-off!

SHOCK SHOWDOWN!

But while Whit is in the dark, her boss Gray is well aware of Kush’s predicament, and smugly reminds his love rival that by accepting Phil’s deal, he’s agreeing to go down for a very long time. Meanwhile, Kush’s former girlfriend Kat – who was the one who dragged him into the heist in the first place – tells Whitney that Kush’s deal with the Mitchells will ensure that the happy couple are set for life, completely unaware that Whitney had no clue about the pact! So how will she react now that she’s armed with all of the facts?

“The news comes out of the blue, and Whitney doesn’t know how to deal with it,” explains Shona. “She can’t believe Kush has lied to her; it’s a side that she never thought she would see in Kush. She’s been lied to by lots of men, so for Kush to lie is a shock. It hurts, and it’s a case of if they can move forward from this…”

WHAT NEXT?

After furious Whit gives Kush a piece of her mind, he flees their row – and when Whitney can’t find him the next day, she fears he’s done a runner ahead of his court appearance! Martin also admits that he’s been unable to get hold of his pal, although reckons there’s no way he’d leave Walford without Whit. Thankfully, she later arrives home to find Kush waiting for her – but what does he have to say for himself?

“Kush is very apologetic,” Shona tells us. “He explains to her that he thought that what he’s done would be more beneficial to Whitney in the long run, but she’s more fixated on the fact that he lied. Kush is very sorry, though, and Whit loves him no matter what. She knows this is just a blip, and she doesn’t want it to stop them from having a future.”

However, with the Mitchells piling on the pressure for Kush to stick to their deal, his future looks pretty bleak right now. As he heads to court to enter his plea, Kush is shaken to spot Ben there watching his every move, while Gray is also present in his capacity as the Mitchells’ lawyer. So as Kush’s charges are read out in court, will he cop the blame for everything?

CRUEL INTENTIONS

It’s clear that if Kush goes ahead with the plan, he and Whit will be cruelly ripped apart for a long time. But while that’s sure to break both their hearts, one person who won’t shed any tears about the situation is Gray, who’s doing

everything in his power to drive a wedge between them so he can have Whit for himself! And the saddest thing is that kindhearted Whitney is oblivious to his cruel intentions…

“Whit can’t even see Gray’s jealousy,” admits Shona. “Even the angry outburst he had recently she put down to the stress of him having two kids and being a single father. Obviously, Mack recently had his little outburst of aggression at school too, so Whitney just thinks everything has got on top of Gray and he had a bad day.”

MURDER IN MIND?

While we’re sworn to secrecy about what happens next, what we can say is that Kush is forced to take drastic action – so will that involve ending things with Whit? Or might these two get their happy-ever-after somehow? One thing’s for sure, whatever happens, Gray will be lurking in the background, ready to capitalise on the situation…

“Whitney’s totally distracted by Kush right now,” shares Shona. “I’m not sure that she would even know that she’s in danger. As a viewer and fan of the show, I’d say that Gray is not going to like what happens next. Will Whitney sense that she’s in danger? We’ll have to see. But I don’t think Gray is going to take it well at all!”
