“I adore Charlie – I’m heartbroken he’s leaving!”

Georgia reflects on Toyah and Imran’s tumultuous relationship…

-

Hi, Georgia! First up, the question on everyone’s lips: does Toyah really love Imran? Or does she just love the idea of this ready-made family?

I think it’s both. Charlie and I had a lot of meetings with Iain [MacLeod], our producer, where we worked out exactly how we were going to pitch this, and what our characters’ motivations were. There is love between Toyah and Imran, and I don’t think you can switch that off. But is Toyah just steamrolling ahead to try to get to the endgame? Absolutely. I don’t think they would have had a shotgun wedding if Alfie wasn’t in the picture.

What would be Toyah’s ideal outcome to this?

For Toyah, some sort of shared custody would be the perfect outcome. She would still be very much a part of Alfie’s life as his stepmum, but wouldn’t have the guilt of essentially feeling as though she’s taken a baby from its mother.

How easy was it for you to switch off from these episodes?

I’m just physically tired because they’re long days, and you’re putting your body through a lot. When you’re in it and you’re busy, there’s not a lot of room for anything else – but luckily I love my job, so that’s okay!

We know Charlie is leaving soon. How do you feel about Toyah and Imran being no more?

Oh, heartbroken! I absolutely adore him, we’ve been together on screen for over three years, and he’s an absolute dream. We have a lot of fun, but he’s also one of the most supportive people I’ve ever worked with. If he knows I have a big day of scenes he’ll text to ask how I’m doing, he’s a real team player. I’m excited to see what he’s going to do next. I think he’s going to fly.
