Fools’ gold!
KERRY GODLIMAN TELLS US HOW THIS LATEST ULTIMATE TASKMASTER TOURNAMENT IS A CELEBRATION OF ALL THINGS SILLY…
TASKMASTER CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS 2022
Channel 4 9PM
Hi, Kerry! You’re joined by your fellow former victors Richard Herring, Liza Tarbuck, Ed Gamble and Lou Sanders for this one-off special: what was that dynamic like? Well, you’ve got five highly competitive people who are all champions, so there was a playful rivalry there. Everybody really entered into the spirit of the thing.
So, does the show bring out your competitive side? Unfortunately so! Not when it comes to board games or sport – there’s something really stupid about kicking a ball about and shouting. But I don’t know what it is about Taskmaster: it just gets under my skin. There’s a silliness to it that I can get behind. It’s like a really intense clowning Olympics!
Do you have any tips on how to win Taskmaster Greg Davies over?
Oh, I have no idea. I cannot read that man. I think what he does like is effort; he can’t stand it if people just don’t bother. But then it is maddening when you think you’ve done well, like my Prize Task in this episode.
Not only had I given it a lot of thought, I also executed it brilliantly. And then he just dismissed it! I was furious!
We have to ask you about ‘Bosh!’, because that’s become your thing…
I don’t really know how. It just communicates what I need to communicate: get the job done!
Where do you keep your trophy from series 7? Well, I kept it in my garage, but we’ve had some work done, and when the builders came to clear the garage, they just interpreted the mess as ‘everything in here is for the tip’. So I had to get Greg’s head out of a skip! Now he’s in the eaves of my loft, because it is a terribly upsetting thing to look upon. It’s a massive head. It will scare my children!
