As we head into the New Year, we all need to consider important things like calendars for 2024. Especially when they are as striking as this one!

At Iron Cross magazine we are again pleased to support our friends at The Great War Aviation Society by reviewing their 2024 artwork calendar.

As ever, this is a truly lovely piece of work which utilises the talented artwork of twelve different aviation artists who showcase their skills across each month of the year.

The range of subjects includes aircraft of t he majority of the combatant nations, all of them depicted in a variety of stunning and striking scenarios. And many of these artists will be familiar to readers of military history books and magazines who will instantly recognise the various styles and the nature of their various pieces of work across recent decades.

It is worth recording, too, that each artist has allowed their work to be used without charge and that the sale of the calendar will help to boost funds to support the British Air Services Memorial at St Omer a very worthy cause indeed!

Hitherto known as Cross and Cockade International, it was decided in recent years to re-brand to The Great War Aviation Society in order to promote better understanding as to the purpose of the organisation and to help people interested in the topic more easily find the society online.

It is certainly the case that purchases of this calendar will help towards the goal of supporting the St Omer memorial – a worthy cause.

In this digital age, and where dates and calendars are increasingly displayed for us on electronic devices, then what better than to enjoy this brilliant artwork on the wall of your home, office, or library? And even in 2024, there is certainly still a place for the 'traditional'. The reviewer will certainly enjoy this in his office.

As illustrated here, the calendar also includes some wonderful paintings of aircraft of the Imperial German Air Service.
