3 The world of Italian cars is the focus of MOTOR VALLEY FEST, which takes place in Modena in May. Visitors can explore the world of classic vehicles and all things automotive as this fun event motors into the city, including car and motorbike rallies, parades, open museums and more attractions – all celebrating the world of motoring.

4 Make your way to RIVA DEL GARDA in early May if you’re a fan of mountain biking. The Bike Festival takes over the whole area, with up to 15,000 participants descending on its trails and paths. 5 Spring is a brilliant time to visit the Cinque Terre, and the LEMON FESTIVAL IN MONTEROSSO is a great event to visit if you’re lucky enough to be in the area at the right time. The village is decked out with lemon-themed decorations to mark the day, and stalls line the narrow streets, selling all manner of lemony produce.
