Wine tasting

Head up the hill and visit PEQ Agri’s winery restaurant and cellar for a Ligurian wine-tasting experience on the beautiful Terrazza Praié. The winery has a selection of organic white, red and rosé wines from native Ligurian grapes, and the tasting is paired with the winery’s own produce, including ham, cheese and bread.

Borgo Antico di Colla Micheri

The small, ancient hamlet of Colla Micheri lies about ten minutes’ drive from Laigueglia into the hills behind Andora. This was the hideaway home of Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl, who came here in the 1950s to settle, calling this small corner of Liguria

‘paradise on earth’.

The hamlet was almost abandoned but many locals are returning and converting the stone houses for tourism. Do stop by the little Osteria for a meal. Small as it may seem, the dining room is often busy with people who live nearby.

Cycling on the Riviera dei Fiori

Those looking for some time exploring on two wheels can try the beautiful coastal cycle path between the villages of San Lorenzo al Mare and Ospedaletti, closer to the French border. This 24 kilometres of traffic-free path, passing colourful fishermen’s houses along the scenic landscape, is part of a bigger project to link all the villages along the coast.

Trofeo Laigueglia

The annual Trofeo Laigueglia is a professional cycling race that traditionally opens the Italian racing season every year. For such a small community, there is a big passion for cycling, with hotels equipped with facilities to welcome cyclists and references to the bicycles in the shops. Visit the wall of fame along the waterfront near the Bastione and look for familiar names among the previous winners of the Trofeo.
