Parents’ curriculum afternoon: The school will be holding a curriculum afternoon focussing on teaching and expectatio­ns in mathematic­s on Thursday, November 27 from 3.30-4.30pm. There will be a general introducti­on in the hall for about 15 minutes followed by the opportunit­y to visit your child’s class where further age related informatio­n will be shared. There will also be maths packs for sale. Child care will be provided for school aged children. Children in Need: The school council initiative to hold a toy and cake sale after school on Children in Need day, was a great success. Through their efforts and those of families, staff and all who came along, £374 was raised in a short period of time. What a great idea. Litter pick: Last weekend, community spirited residents took to the lanes around the parish to clear up the rubbish dropped by litter louts who persist in throwing litter from their vehicles as they drive through the area. PARISH COUNCIL: New signs to show last June’s amendments to the 7.5 tonne weight limit around Yalding, were scheduled for installati­on last Friday. Festival of fair trade: Commu- nigrow, growers of local, fresh, seasonal produce are presenting a Festival of Fair Trade on Saturday, December 6 in the Church Centre, New Road, from noon-5pm. Stalls with local produce, arts and crafts, children’s activities, campaigns and films. Free entrance. Churchyard clean-up: The last event for this year will take place on Saturday November 29 from 9am-noon. All are welcome to join in for part or all of the morning. Refreshmen­ts will be provided but it may help to take garden tools if you can, although some will be available on the day.
