Maidstone International beat Coxheath and Farleigh 5- 0 to progress to the next round of the Spitfire Challenge Cup.

Man-of-the-match Chris Archer netted twice and striker Matt Bolton completed the scoring to wrap up a convincing win.

In the Premier League, East Malling were buoyed by the return of striker Kevin Swaisland after a lengthy ban.

Swaisland netted twice to help see off Larkfield Green 3-2.

In Division 1, Invicta Sunday and Vinters drew 1-1.

Harry Hutton’s fourth goal in four matches rescued a point for Invicta, after they had conceded late in the first half.

Invicta’s stand-in keeper Damon Richardson made two outstanding saves and Hutton fired home the equaliser, in off the post, on 71 minutes. Peter Taylor believes Gills skipper Doug Loft is starting to produce the top level performances he was hoping for. And the timing couldn’t be any better as Loft comes up against his former club Port Vale tomorrow (Saturday). Boss Taylor persuaded Loft to put an end to a successful spell in the Potteries and return to his home county of Kent. Taylor said: “I am pleased with Doug and he is now starting to show everybody why we signed him. “He is starting to look like a very good footballer. “If he has got a fault it is because he is trying too hard and if that’s his fault, then it’s no terrible thing. “What a good player we have got. I am delighted with him.” Loft played close to 200 games for the Valiants and, as skipper, he helped Vale achieve promotion to League 1 in 2013 and then finish a comfortable ninth last season. “He gave Port Vale fantastic service,” Taylor said. “He should get a good welcome from their supporters and hopefully they understood why he is now here.” Gills, who drew 1-1 at Bradford last Saturday, have bolstered their defence after clinching the signing of QPR’s Max Ehmer. The 22-year-old, German central defender, joins on loan until January 3, replacing Kortney Hause who has returned to Wolves.
