Threats on Black Friday

-

Police had to be called to a computer superstore as the tension of getting a good Black Friday deal proved too much.

Officers attended the Currys PC World store, at the South Aylesford Retail Park, where the man from Maidstone was using threatening language towards staff at around 3pm.

He was not arrested but has been banned from the store.

Black Friday – November 28 – is a US tradition of bargains after Thanksgiving.

Back in Kent at midnight on the day gamers formed an orderly line in the town centre.

They were waiting outside the Game store, in Maidstone’s Week Street, to get their hands on the latest edition of Call of Duty, which had been heavily discounted.

And shoppers who did not fancy staying up late were greeted by more traffic than usual as they tried to enter the town centre’s car parks.

Fremlin Walk and The Mall Chequers had longer than usual queues during the morning with Kent Highways advising people to expect delays at 11am.

The roads cleared an hour later but the town centre was packed through the day.

Tomorrow (Saturday) it is the turn of independent stores to have their day.

In Maidstone several shops have developed a range of promotions and will display Small Business Saturday posters to show their participation.
