Wilkin wary of Stones threat
Wrexham boss Kevin Wilkin is expecting a tough time against Maidstone.
Wilkin saw United’s FA Cup firstround replay win over Stevenage, working as a pundit for BT Sport.
He’s aware of the threat posed by Ryman League, Premier Division United but knows his Vanarama Conference side have a big chance to reach round three.
Wilkin is also keen to avoid a replay on the Gallagher Stadium’s 3G pitch.
He said: “I have seen Maidstone first hand, they are a strong side.
“I know they are two divisions below us but they are a physical side that have got players that can pass it when they are allowed to.
“On the surface that they play on at home, it is a great advantage for them if they do get people back to their home pitch.
“But we have got a great opportunity on Saturday and I want to seize that with both hands.
“The players are aware of it for all the reasons you talk about – the prestige and the finances it brings to people that are successful in the competition.
“Every round you play in, the rewards are massive. We have spoken long about those, it is just about us making sure that we do go and do the job.
“If we can come through that and get a major tie, that would be great for everyone at the club.”
